Tag Sale Tips

Tag Sale Tips for Sellers

Source Your Inventory
First, it's important to review your items that you wish to sell. Even if you have doubts about some items selling, it's still worth it to give it a try and lay out what you have. You'll never know unless you try. Keep this saying in mind when preparing your sale: "one person's trash is another person's treasure!"

Pricing Items
Many sales have hundreds of items with tiny price tags or stickers. Sometimes these tags can suggest that you're not willing to bargain on prices, other times it gives people an idea of where they can meet you half way. The best strategy is to create a simple spreadsheet with all of your items listed and prices next to them, but keep this to yourself and use it as a guide. You might also want to make notes or descriptions, especially if you're selling antiques or unique items that require a description.

Presentation
Organization is key. Don't clutter your items and try to keep similar elements of the sale in categories. This allows for easy browsing and makes your items look better. You'll gain bargaining power if the item is presented in a organized manner.

Tag Sale Advertising
Keywords in your advertising are key indicators to people whether or not the sale will be desirable. Attention getting titles and phrases include:

"Everything Must Go"
"Liquidation"
"Moving"
"Cleaning Out"

These descriptions tend to yield great turnouts because people are seeking deals! Smart shoppers and buyers look for key words such as "Antiques" and "Collectibles" and tend to believe that you know your inventory, in which case you may be less likely to negotiate on price. Best thing to do is understand your inventory but keep your descriptions and advertising subtle.

Don't forget, you can advertise your physical sales (time, date & description) for FREE on Tagsellit.com.

Standing Out from Auction Sites & E-Classifieds

Differentiating ourselves from Craigslist:
Craigslist is an online free classifieds service open buyers and sellers on a global level. In the section “For Sale,” posted items are listed individually unless listed in the “Free” or “Items Wanted” category. Craigslist clearly discourages on-line or virtual tag sales, however, you can advertise your “physical” tag sale in the "Garage Sales" section. Craigslist does not currently charge to post an item in its “For Sale” section.

Differentiating ourselves from Ebay:
Ebay is a global on-line auction powerhouse. Items are auctioned off singularly or as “sets” of similar items or product. (i.e. Pez dispensers or toys can be auctioned off in a “lot” because they are the same item). Ebay charges their sellers a listing fee to list an item and a commission fee when the item sells, which is based on the final sale price.

*Ebay owns a 25% interest in Craigslist

Tagsellit.com allows users to list their items singularly or by sets as similar items. A brief description, asking price and photos can all be included and uploaded to the site. There is a modest one-time flat fee for posting your sale on the site. Users can pick the duration, manage their content throughout the sale and communicate with buyers. Initially an “anonymous” email sent through Tagsellit’s forum would commence communication between parties.

Advantages of using Tagsellit.com
1. Advertise the physical sale of items at a specific place and time FREE! (Such as newspapers do).
2. Users can list multiple items and manage them all at the same time.
3. Those who cannot physically hold a tag sale can advertise a virtual tag sale for buyers to inquire. An example of this would be someone who lives in Manhattan and is relocating or downsizing and needs to sell their items all at once but they do not want to deal with commissions or with creating multiple postings.

Tag Sales

We figured it would be a good time to start a Blog and introduce an amazing new spin on Tag Sales, Garage Sales, Yard Sales & Estate Sales!

Tag Sell It Inc. was founded in 2007 as an alternative to the existing auction and e-classified sites. Tagsellit.com is designed to solve the challenges of individuals with personal or household items that they wish to sell, but are unable to host a physical tag sale. The site also allows institutions to create virtual sales as an efficient means to market and sell its items. This approach allows sellers to post multiple items that will be displayed on their personal sale page.

Our virtual tag sale site allows buyers and sellers to connect on both a local and national level. Tagsellit.com facilitates the initial communication from the potential buyer to the seller. The seller’s email address remains anonymous unless he or she chooses to respond to a potential buyer. This hybrid approach offers the following benefits not found on traditional auction and e-classified sites:

Sellers are able to...

  • Create virtual tag sales for a small listing fee and post up to 200 items with pictures and prices without paying commissions
  • Manage their sales by deleting sold items and adding new ones through the duration of their sale
  • Remain anonymous in deciding which potential buyers to communicate with
  • Buyers are able to...

  • Search by location to trade locally if desired
  • Search for items using a sophisticated keyword and tag search
  • Contact sellers to barter item prices and shipping as needed
  • Our Mission...

To provide a virtual tag sale service based website designed for buyers and sellers to connect locally and nationally to list, sell and purchase multiple items within one posting. Tagsellit.com is an organized, dynamic user-friendly site that eliminates commissions and streamlines the current listing marketplace. We strive to provide the utmost integrity and service for our users.
